I understand that you don't want to pay for a professional photo developing program if you don't do photography. Of course Lightroom is a paid program, although it has a free trial version of one week (which I seriously suggest you try). I would even dare to say that, together with it, it is the most popular and used photo editor in the world. In fact, I'd say it's Adobe's most downloaded, used, and most popular software, next to Photoshop, obviously.
It really is a developer of RAW files that is used to discover huge amounts of photographs at once, which is why it is widely used by expert event photographers.
